Hi! My name is Kendra Thompson. I am the founder and owner of KThompsonStudio. I assume you clicked on this page to learn a little bit more about me and my photography business, so here we go!

 

I have always been a creative individual and I can't remember a time in my life where I didn't love taking photos. I was always that one friend who had the digital camera and would take hundreds of photos. In high school I took photography class and was on yearbook. This is when I knew I wanted to do something creative one day.

I studied Advertising and Marketing Communications Management at Algonquin College. This program was the perfect mix of doing something creative but also learning more about business. In my second year, I was sales manager of the student magazine and in my third year, I interned at Carleton University in their athletics marketing department, where I did a mix of videography work and social media work. I was later hired back on for a contract job.

I launched KThompsonStudio in November of 2020. Which was unlucky timing as you all know. However, it kind of worked out perfectly. I would only shoot when we were allowed to see people (as long as you were social distancing), which I was able to do as a photographer. 

​

In 2021, I landed a job at Canadian Geographic. As much as I wanted to continue growing KThompsonStudio, it just wasn't sustainable at the time. I worked as Can Geo's social media specialist from 2021-2025 and in 2025 was promoted to digital marketing coordinator. This job gave me so many incredible experiences and life long friends and I am very grateful.

 

In 2025 I accepted a new job as marketing manager for a local pet grooming business, Purrdy Paws Spa. In July 2025, I made the choice to step down from my full time role as marketing manager and take on a freelance role as social media manager, so that I could embark on a freelance journey.

Which leads me to present day! I am so grateful to be able to put the time and love back into KThompsonStudio and start creating timeless and beautiful content. I find so much joy in capturing the raw and real moments and I hope you'll consider working with me. I look forward to hearing from you and hope we can create some magic!
